Does high price really mean better?
So I have been thinking. Does the price of something really make something better? Lately I have been falling into the brand name world. You know, Gucci over Timex (which only means a few hundred more dollars, doesn't mean the watch won't last as long, or last even longer with the cheaper version) When we buy our electronics does it have to be from Advance Electronics or Visions, why can't it be from Walmart. A tv is a tv. And really they all last the same amount of time, don't they. Does the cost of them make a difference as to when the bulbs will burn out, or when the color will look crappy, nope. Its just the issue of price.
Does it really matter Tim Horton's or Starbucks? Being a fan of the so called higher end Starbucks doesn't make anyone better, it means you like a different type of coffee. I personally hate the stuff, I am a Tim Horton's girl. All just preference. This is how everything works....
People always say you get what you pay for... However that isn't the case. You get what you know. You don't do the research, you get what you deserve. Example: You hire a contractor because you saw an add in the paper, the guy charges a fortune, so he must be good... He leaves, your work looks horrible. Does he care now, nope. The work is done. So now you start asking questions, talking to people, and getting names thrown at ya. You hire someone else who was half the price. When he leaves the job is PERFECT... So, does that mean "You get what you pay for"
Another situation is photography!
Don't get me wrong, most that have high prices are amazing @ what they do. I am not saying that they are not. What I am saying is, just because people don't charge as much, doesn't make them any less of a photographer than someone who is charging a fortune. A photographer is something that takes work, practice, and research. You are constantly learning, trying new things, no one ever knows it all. Cause each wedding etc, you try something different, you go for unique. And the cost of 5000.00 or 1000.00 doesn't always make a difference. Its again all about preference. I have had clients that tell me they prefer my work, to some of the 5000.00 photographers, and I have had some people not book a wedding cause my style wasn't what they were looking for. PREFERENCE, not about getting what you pay for. :) In the last 3 years I have shot over 90 weddings. So doesn't experience give you something? Doesn't that give you ground for expertise, not price!
This post came about only because of my shopping lately. Buying from more expensive stores, just because........ Mac or PC. Well I have switched to mac, why because it costs more, it must be better...... Ok, that is one statement that is true... I LOVE MY MAC's and wouldn't be without them. However not because they cost more. Apple just says it all! LOL Anyways, enough about all this! Just something I had running through my head!
