Family of 16

This evening I had the opportunity to work with a very fun, energetic, loving family. This group was full of laughter and happiness, and was a lot of fun to work with. Due to a request for no online posting of one of the family members, the entire group shots will not be posted! Here is some examples of the smaller sets of shots we did....

Ephotos

Yesterday I had an awesome shoot with an awesome couple. Chad & Rae both are very comfortable in front of the camera and so much in love. I honestly only had to tell them where to stand, or if I wanted them to crouch, or sit. The rest was up to them. They kissed when they wanted to. Chad held her hand when he felt he should. Rae looked into his eyes when she felt it was right, and I must say their love shows in these photos. Here is a few shots from our shoot. Can't wait till the wedding next year!

Beautiful Day

After a long time since I first time I met this couple, the big day finally arrived. Alicia and Brian's Wedding day! A great couple they are.... We first did an engagement shoot last year, and then I designed their wedding invitation for them, so we had a few coffee meetings to discuss that, so I must say I got to know this couple pretty well. Alicia looked absolutely stunning, and Brian handsome too! Here is some shots from there gorgeous wedding day!

Dedicated to photos!

This was a very busy weekend. After Fridays wedding, that ended for me around 10pm, a friend called to say that her water broke (she is just under 37 weeks pregnant) We had planned to do a location maternity shoot on Tuesday, but due to the crazy weather we had here in Winnipeg, that shoot was cancelled. So, she asked if I could pop over to her place and get a few shots for her, before they tried to get some sleep and then head to the hospital....... So of course I did. We did just a few pics in her living room without the proper lighting set up, and no backdrops, but we got a documentation of her perfect baby belly! My friend Colleen is a dedicated photo girl. How many people can say they had there maternity photos taken while in labour! :) Colleen you are amazing!

And of course, today I seen the little bundle of sunshine. A baby Girl. 5 lbs 12 oz of perfectness! Born yesterday (Saturday, July 18th 2009) If she would have waited a week and 2 days, we could have shared a bday, but I guess we can share the month! Here is some pics of Friday Night and Sunday Evening!

Steinbach Wedding

What a beautiful day. As you all know the weather this week was definately not something that anyone wanted to see for July. It was cold, windy, and rainy! Not a promising week for 2 weddings... WOW, but did we luck out. Today was gorgeous, not to hot, not to cold. Today I was given the opportunity to photograph the wedding of 2 friends. My hubby and I met these two around the time of our wedding through our friends. They are a fantastic couple, and we had a great time. Not only was I able to photograph Stacy and Kelly, but a friend from my elementary/highschool years was in the bridal party. So great to see an old friend again, after such a long time. Hard to believe we all grew up! Here is some shots from the day.

Does high price really mean better?

So I have been thinking. Does the price of something really make something better? Lately I have been falling into the brand name world. You know, Gucci over Timex (which only means a few hundred more dollars, doesn't mean the watch won't last as long, or last even longer with the cheaper version) When we buy our electronics does it have to be from Advance Electronics or Visions, why can't it be from Walmart. A tv is a tv. And really they all last the same amount of time, don't they. Does the cost of them make a difference as to when the bulbs will burn out, or when the color will look crappy, nope. Its just the issue of price.

Does it really matter Tim Horton's or Starbucks? Being a fan of the so called higher end Starbucks doesn't make anyone better, it means you like a different type of coffee. I personally hate the stuff, I am a Tim Horton's girl. All just preference. This is how everything works....
People always say you get what you pay for... However that isn't the case. You get what you know. You don't do the research, you get what you deserve. Example: You hire a contractor because you saw an add in the paper, the guy charges a fortune, so he must be good... He leaves, your work looks horrible. Does he care now, nope. The work is done. So now you start asking questions, talking to people, and getting names thrown at ya. You hire someone else who was half the price. When he leaves the job is PERFECT... So, does that mean "You get what you pay for"
Another situation is photography!
Don't get me wrong, most that have high prices are amazing @ what they do. I am not saying that they are not. What I am saying is, just because people don't charge as much, doesn't make them any less of a photographer than someone who is charging a fortune. A photographer is something that takes work, practice, and research. You are constantly learning, trying new things, no one ever knows it all. Cause each wedding etc, you try something different, you go for unique. And the cost of 5000.00 or 1000.00 doesn't always make a difference. Its again all about preference. I have had clients that tell me they prefer my work, to some of the 5000.00 photographers, and I have had some people not book a wedding cause my style wasn't what they were looking for. PREFERENCE, not about getting what you pay for. :) In the last 3 years I have shot over 90 weddings. So doesn't experience give you something? Doesn't that give you ground for expertise, not price!
This post came about only because of my shopping lately. Buying from more expensive stores, just because........ Mac or PC. Well I have switched to mac, why because it costs more, it must be better...... Ok, that is one statement that is true... I LOVE MY MAC's and wouldn't be without them. However not because they cost more. Apple just says it all! LOL Anyways, enough about all this! Just something I had running through my head!

Andrea & Steven

7/11/09. yes, 7/11 and free slurpee day. What a coincidence. LOL. Todays wedding took this date to the max. The brides wedding binder was complete with a large 7 11 logo on the front. And we made a trip to the slurpee store for slurpees, chips, hotdogs etc. It was awesome....

Todays wedding was a joy to capture, as I have known the bride for many many years. Over 20 to be exact. Her sister and I grew up together and is the godmother of my daughter Alyssa. I must say that this fun, couple got some very unique and interesting photos, with idea after idea of crazy fun stuff to do. Andrea looked amazing in her dress that was hand made by RoseMarie, and the flowers were gorgeous, again made by Andrea and Colleen.... The wedding ceremony and reception took place @ The Evergreen Village just outside of Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba (my home town) it was nice being back in my roots! here is some photos of the day...

Great Wedding, Bad luck day

Well, I first of all have to say, What a great couple I worked with today. Teresa & Neil.  Fun, easy going, and down to earth.   We got some great shots, full of laughter and excitement, and this group was so easy to capture the good times.  As nice as they day was, it ended up being a bad luck day for me.  As leaving the brides mom's house, my camera strap caught on the bench, and well lets just say the camera took a dive.  YUP, my 5D mark2 can fly.   The camera is fine, but the flash flew into 4 pieces.  I was in complete panic, even though I contained myself quite well, said my assistant.  After a few frantic phone calls to my husband, and a plea for help on Facebook, we got things under control.  I was rescued by wonderful Meaghan from Don's photo who seen my cry for help and called to offer me the use of her flash for the day, due to misplaced gear, that didn't work out, but my husband made it to the church and had it fixed in no time.  Thank goodness, nothing really broke, just needed to be put together again.  No one can say that Canon doesn't make great photography equipment, cause that sucker flew!  But I am thanking my lucky stars that it didn't break. wowooooohoooo!   Here is some shots from today.

Am I nuts?

Well yesterdays lunch trip with our friend Ryan to Mongo's turned in to a huge day of change. And I didn't watch Dr.Phil if thats what you think......   After our lunch, we headed to Petland to make a quick stop with Ryan, and my husband Scott fell in love with some 2 month old yellow lab puppies.  I have never been a huge fan of owning a large dog, as I have 2 shitzu's who I adore.  But for many years Scott has wanted a large dog, so after seeing them @ Petland, we decided to head over to the Humaine Society and have a peek.  Well what do you know, they had one yellow lab 2 month old pup.  UH HUH, we couldn't leave her there, locked up in a cage, who could? So we brought her home and added her to our family.  OUR FULL HOUSE FAMILY. 3 Dogs, 2 Kids and myself and hubby.  The door is now CLOSED.......  She is adorable alright, but my goodness.  She's a handful.  She seems to prefer to be outside, and I honestly don't mind cause it keeps my floors clean.  When she comes inside, well ummm, if you have had puppies you get me! LOL.  Here is some photos, of what we have taken on.  Bailey 2 year old Shitzu.  Izzie 6 month old Shitzu & Marley 2 Month old Yellow Lab.............
